Today, we take a closer look at Manny Sackey, who, at the time of writing, has amassed some 82 appearances for the club.

Sackey made his debut for the club on the 15th of November 2007, under managers Lewis Affour. However, it was not to be a dream first game, as Forest were smashed 6-0 by a rampant Northwood side.

Sackey, playing then as a midfielder, would only make twelve appearances before moving on to Enfield Town. Forest would come across Sackey in their meeting with Enfield Town – which we won 3-0, ensuring our Ryman League status for another year.

Sackey returned to the club towards the end of the 2010-11 season, where he was part of Wale Ojelabi’s salvage mission to keep the club in the division after a terrible start to the season by Tony Mercer.

Sackey was successful in keeping the club in the division – albeit thanks to a reprieve – but chipped in with 8 starts.

The following season (2011-12) saw Sackey playing in a more defensive capacity, and was a near ever-present in the Forest squad, racking up 45 appearances, all of which were starts. It should be noted that during this time, Sackey only received one caution.

At the end of the 2011-12 season, Sackey’s contribution to the team was rewarded by the fans, who voted him their player of the season.

After spending the pre-season for the 2012-13 elsewhere, Sackey returned to the club and made the central midfield position his own. At the time of writing, Sackey has made 17 starts and three substitute appearances. He also scored his second goal for the club in the 4-2 win over Chatham Town.

With the current season still relatively young, Sackey will no doubt enter Forest’s 100 club, being it’s 15 member.
