On Saturday 22nd December we visit Redbridge, kick-off 3.00pm.
Redbridge play at Station Road, Barkingside, IG6 1NB. Telephone 0208-550-3611.
The Ground is next to Barkingside Central Line Station. Make your way to the A123 (Cranbrook Road), and turn into Tanners lane. Turn into left into Craven Gardensd, and then immediately right into Carlton Drive. Bear left into Station Road and cross the railway bridge. The ground is on the right. There is ample parking at the ground.
This is an alternative route from Ilford; at the junction of Eastern Avenue and Ley Street head north into Horns Road. Take the 7th turning on the left (Princes Road), then first left into Crown Road and then right into Station Road.
By Public Transport
Barkingside is on the Hainault Branch of the Central Line. From the station exit turn right over the railway bridge and the ground is on the right.
The Beer Hunter’s Guide to Redbridge
Barkingside High Street has a pub at each end: at the southern extremity, the Chequers is a sports bar-type Greene King pub which had IPA on handpump last time we were there, but the Beer Hunter much prefers the New Fairlop Oak at the northern end (actually in Fencepiece Road). This is a spacious Wetherspoons, with a good range of well-priced guest ales and the company’s usual range of good-value, tasty pub grub. There’s no real ale at the club itself, and no decent bottled beer either.
Editor’s note: The Redbridge pitch is renowned for being akin to a floodplain. There will most likely be a pitch inspection on Saturday morning. Any news will be published on this website and the club’s twitter feed: @walthamforestfc.
