Going into Saturday’s game against Ilford Forest had played in mid-week losing to Stansted 5-2, however we returned back to the Lodge with a brisk cold wind around.
Even before a ball was kicked Forest needed a sub keeper with Hunt injured and Hussein unable make it, we now looked to centre-back Akbayrak who was now in goal.
Both teams where playing well but just before half time Ifil gave Forest the lead with shot outside the box into the far corner of the net, beating some defenders on the way to score the first goal of the game.
It was as a deserved lead for Forest.
So as the 2nd half got under way Forest saw plenty of play with a lot of good football in the conditions, to put Ilford under pressure, mid-way through the 2nd half Forest got their 2nd with a goal from Ofori which looked like a miss kick but somehow the ball dipped onto the bar and went in to give Forest a 2-0 lead.
It finally gave Forest some breathing space they richly deserved. As the game entered the last few minutes a 3rd goal of the afternoon came after Traore set up Callaghan who smashed the ball like a rocket into the back of the net to surely to give Forest all 3 points.
The game finished 3-0 to Forest, an overview of the game was a good 2nd half performance by Forest who took their chances and took the game.
