Unstoppable Vets in fine form

Waltham Forest continued their winning run with a 10-1 demolition of bottom side Apoel. Forest were without a goalkeeper, so Basir Arasan went between the posts for the first half, but Forest dominated play from the off and took the lead after just 6 minutes when Berk Emul crossed low from the right and Suat Demirel guided the ball home.

4 minutes later Demirel made it 2-0 when he ran on to a through ball from Halit Ozgur to beat the keeper.

In a rare attack Arasan misjudged a looping shot from Wayne Green as Apoel pulled a goal back, but on 15 minutes Emul picked up a pass from Ozgur to make it 3-1.

In spite of going close there were no further goals in the first half.

After the break Emul replaced Arasan in the Forest goal, and Demirel beat the offside trap to score his 3rd goal. On 49 minutes Demirel latched on to a pass from Yilmaz Dojru to make it 5-1 and a minute later Dojru broke clear to add a 6th.

Emul was forced to make a couple of saves as Forest eased up, but on the hour Adem Cagiran scored with a screaming shot from 30 yards.

On 67 minutes Erdal Berkler broke down the left flank a cut in only to see his shot hit the post, but Unal Kuksal was on hand to score the rebound.

A long cross field pass on 74 minutes by Musa Pekin found Dojru who slipped the ball home for the 9th Forest goal, and 5 minutes later Cagiran completed the scoring with a low shot.

Next Sunday, 8th March, Forest are away to Woodford Town at Fairlop Playing Fields, kick-off 10.30.
