Stansted – The Beer Hunter’s Guide

On leaving Stansted Mountfitchet station you come to the King’s Arms (Greene King IPA and Abbot), but carry on into Lower Street and you’ll find the Queen’s Head, a small, busy “drinkers’ pub” refurbished after flooding in 2014 and offering two changing beers from national breweries. In the same street, the Dog & Duck offers more Greene King while the Cork House is a tapas bar which also sells Sharp’s Doom Bar.

Up on Silver Street, the Linden House offers five-star luxury and two varying real ales, while the more down-to-earth Cock has yet more Greene King, Speckled Hen and reasonably priced food. Thanks, as ever, to CAMRA’s excellent Whatpub website (www.whatpub.com) – your essential guide to finding good ale wherever you’re going!
