Vets win on opening day, but Reserves made to wait

Waltham Forest’s Reserves will have to wait to discover the outcome of their first game of the season after their tie with Majestic was abandoned early in the second half.

A first-half hattrick from Antonio Vullo and a goal from Garjay Thompson put Forest 4-0 up at the break, followed by goals from Pelummy Martin and Terry Amofao from the penalty spot.

But then a Majestic player was shown two yellow cards for dissent in a matter of sections, at which point the referee abandoned the game, citing threats from the home team.

Elsewhere, the Veterans got their season off to a winning start with a 5-2 victory over Crouch End Vampires.
