Maxwell returns to take over managerial reins

Waltham Forest are delighted to announce the appointment of Ryan Maxwell as first team manager.

Ryan returns to the club where he was a coach last season, and one of the key figures in Forest winning their first ten games of the season.

The vastly experienced former Northern Ireland U21 international began his playing career as a youth player at Chelsea before moving onto Crystal Palace and Reading in 1999.

He made professional appearances with Reading, Hamilton Academical and Raith Rovers. He then played for Llanelli in Wales, where he played in the UEFA Cup.

The midfielder, who will be Forest’s player-manager, and had spells with a host of Conference and Conference South Clubs including Dagenham and Redbridge, Basingstoke Town, Margate, Bishop’s Stortford and Tonbridge Angels.

As well as being Forest’s coach last season, Maxwell was coach to Kem Kemal at Ware earlier this season, so is not lacking in experience on the other side of the touch-line.

With as many as four teams being relegated at the end of this season, and only 12 league games left for Forest, Maxwell will look to hit the ground running, starting with Wednesday’s trip to Sporting Bengal United.
