Vets pick up first league win

Four goals from Sezai Tasci helped the Veterans to their first League win of the season against London Turkish Masters. Walthamstow were quick out of the blocks and Tasci scored in the second minute, beating the offside trap to score against his former club. A minute later he doubled the lead with a goal from close range. On 12 minutes Walthamstow went 3-0 up when a cross from Erdal Bekler was turned into his own net by a Turkish masters defender. Midway through the half, the hosts pulled a goal back with a well-worked move that beat Ismet Turkoglu and went in off a post. Tasci restored Walthamstow’s 3 goal advantage when he linked up with Ferhat Erdogan and Erdal Hazar to score.

Early into the second half Turkish Masters pulled another goal back. Tasci made it 5-2 when he followed up a shot from Hazar that had rebounded from the bar. Walthamstow had several chances to add to their score with Bekler, Tasci and Bogdan Gallan forcing the home keeper to make fine saves.

In the last minute Turkish Masters scored a penalty after Turkoglu was judged to have fouled a forward to make the result London Turkish Masters 3, Walthamstow 5.

The Veterans Don’t have a game on 11th November, so their next fixture is in the Essex County Cup when they visit Sky Athletic on 18th November at Little Wheatleys Chase, Rayleigh, SS6 9EH, kick-off 10.30.
