Striker Leon McKenzie has returned to the club, a little over 12 years after last playing for the club.

Leon made his debut at the start of the 2005-6 season, signing from Aveley. He was an ever-present, scoring 12 times in 35 games, forming a superb partnership with Wes Thomas. But an injury in the final quarter of the season saw him sit out games in March and April; around the same time Forest’s play-off charge fell away.

He followed Hakan Hayrettin’s to Thurrock in June 2006, staying there for three seasons, then moving on to Grays Athetlic, Bishop’s Stortford, Thurrock, Bromley, Billericay Town, Boreham Wood, Bromley (again), Grays (again), eventually signing for AFC Hornchurch in 2012.

McKenzie made almost 200 appearances for the Urchins, and was named Supporters’ Player of the Season for 2016-17.

We’re delighted to welcome Leon back to the club, and hope his stay with us is a successful one.
