Aaron more sat down with Jack Folan during Saturday’s pre-season session to discuss his thoughts of last season and how it went, how he’s getting on at Walthamstow so far and who he thinks is the fittest player in the league
What are your thoughts on last season and how it went?
I think last season was pretty good. Obviously, I joined halfway through when we were about 8th so to finish 3rd was great. We had a good run towards the end of the season as well, a 12-game run, but the game against Sporting Bengal probably hindered us so overall it was positive.
How did you come about playing for Walthamstow?
I used to work with Gus [Douglas] who was at Walthamstow and I was at Stansted at the time. I caught Ryan’s eye during a game between the sides and after speaking to Gus, I joined and I’ve been here ever since.
What are your targets and goals for next season?
I want to play more in the centre because I was pushed out to the right for a lot of last season but my main target to get as much playtime as possible. I would like more goals to add to the one I got verses Leyton last season and do the best I can for the team.
What are your aspirations as a player?
I want to enjoy my football and keep doing so. That is my main focus although others would probably say to finish as high as possible. Hopefully we can get promotion as a group next season.
What is it like playing under a manager like Ryan?
He’s very passionate and gives his heart and soul. He has really helped me to enjoy my football and we have a good relationship.
How are you enjoying your time at Walthamstow so far?
I’m really, really enjoying it. We have a good bunch of boys here and a great squad, both on and off the pitch. I’ve made some good mates and long may it continue.
Who do you think is the fittest player in the Essex Senior League?
Who’s told you to say that? I’m told this every game by him [Ryan Maxwell] and he never comments on my footballing ability. I will defiantly take it, although there is probably some else out there who is the fittest.
