Walthamstow will face Aylesbury United in the 1st Qualifying Round of this season’s FA Cup.
The game will be played on the weekend of Saturday 7 September, but as Aylesbury ground-share with Chesham United, who have also been drawn at home, the exact time and date of the game is yet to be confirmed.
United beat Brimscombe & Thrupp on Saturday in the Preliminary Round of the competition.
The Ducks are currently third in the Southern League Division One Central, having drawn two and won one of their opening games. They haven’t conceded a goal, but have only scored two in three games.
There’s £4,000 on the line for the winners (and £1,500 for the losers) of this tie. It will be the third time in four seasons that the club have progressed to the 1st Qualifying Round. However, Stow have been defeated on both other occasions; 2-0 to Beaconsfield Town last season and 3-1 to Folkestone Invicta three seasons ago – both step 3 clubs.
This will be the first time we’ve played United since the 1990-91 season, and there’s a bit of shared history between the two sides, with former Stow Chairman Terry Back once having managed Aylesbury, and a number of shared players.
