A penalty goal from Dwade James and an own goal helped Walthamstow to a win over Redbridge to keep up their unbeaten run in the league as Stow moved up to 4th in the table.
After a slow start from Walthamstow, they were ahead in the 9th minute when Dwade James converted a penalty after Callum Ibe was brought down having been put through on goal by Danny McCullock.
Redbridge were level almost immediately when they too were awarded a penalty after James Bransgrove was adjudged to have gone through a Redbridge player when he punched the ball.
The home side had several chances but couldn’t find another goal. Billy Jones aimed a free-kick toward the top corner of the goal but was denied by a fantastic save before the Redbridge keeper denied Dwade James and Benji Crilley with another couple of superb saves. Emiel Aiken also hit the bar with a header as he searched for his first goal this season.
The second half had fewer chances as both teams battled in the middle. Redbridge should’ve been ahead when James Bransgrove made a good save before the rebound from former Stag Rujon Tuitt was tame and allowed for a comfortable save.
Stow were ahead when Jones fired a free-kick into the mix before a Redbridge defender flicked it past his own keeper into the goal. The own goal gave Walthamstow all three points despite a tough game in which the visitors made it difficult.
