Stow 0-0 Stansted

The top two had a battle royal at Wadham Lodge, which may not have provided any goals, but nonetheless had plenty of action and some late drama as a penalty miss ended up with a melee and a sending off. Stansted almost took an early lead, but were denied by the post and also had another shot kept out by the keeping prowess Of Amarildo Cekrezi.

However Callum Ibe had a shot cleared and then Stow had a number of shots saved by Jarvis Monk as the Stansted defence came under a lot of pressure. Amazingly the half ended goalless although Stansted did almost gift their hosts a goal in the closing stages of the half when a back header slipped past Monk and was kept out by the post.

Coyle blasted an Stansted free kick wide early in the second half, which saw plenty of full-bloodied challenges, with both keepers making crucial saves to keep the contest evenly poised. There was to be a talking point right at the end as Stansted were awarded a penalty which Mitchell missed and then moments later saw him shown the red card.
