Aveley reprieved, Soham Town Rangers transferred
News has emerged this morning that because of the demise of Rushden and Diamonds, Aveley have been reprieved from relegation to Step 4 of the non-league pyramid. Aveley’s reprieval means that Shepshed Dynamo, who had previously been relegated from the Evo-Stick League, have also been reprived.
These reprievals have forced the Football Association into another re-jig of the Pyramid, and Soham Town Rangers have now been transfterred into the Ryman Division 1 North.
However, this could not be the end of this latest re-organisation, as Rushden and Diamonds could still appeal their demotion if they are not wound up in just over two weeks time.
This latest reprieval means that as it stands, only four of the sides who finished in Step 4 relegtion places will actually be relegated. Thse clubs are: Horsham YMCA, Leigh Genesis, Spaling United and Andover.
Update: The Leamington FC website is reporting that the Southern League has issued the following statement to its member clubs:
“In addition, it was agreed that should it become necessary to accommodate Rushden & Diamonds FC they would be accommodated in the Southern League at Step 3 and that the competition would operate with 23 clubs in their Premier Divisions next season. Furthermore it should be noted that the club will need to satisfy a number of conditions before being accepted into the League.”
