Boateng Brings in Six
Gordon Boateng, manager of Ryman League Division One North club Leyton, confirmed to nonleaguedaily swift movement over the Festive period to bolster a Lillywhites` squad that can look to provide realistic challenge towards retaining Step 4 status.
No fewer than six players have joined the strugglers, but all of them possess proven track records.
Joining the Essex outfit are ex-AFC Hornchurch centre half Joe McGuiness, Adam Bolle, a striker formerly at Tilbury, and goalkeeper Chris Goodchild, who has spent time with Walton Casuals.
Albeit the demands of turning round the fortunes of a club that has been in free-fall for some considerable time are self evident, former Bishop`s Stortford assistant boss Boateng, in unison with his number two Mervin Abraham and coach Rudi Geohagen, are installing a belief that
caters for better times just around the corner, and confirmation that under these improved circumstance good players can still be attracted to the club.
Others newly signed are former Bishop`s Stortford, Harlow Town and Sawbridgeworth Town player Tom Querry, Dan O’Connor, a frontman previously with Ware, Cheshunt and Cockfosters, and central defender Shayne Mangodza (pictured), a seasoned performer with an impressive CV built up at Grays Athletic, Dulwich Hamlet, Ware, Cheshunt and Potters Bar Town.
Boateng finalised by saying he was delighted that players of this calibre were prepared to commit themselves to his club, and the next big target was to get games under their belt as soon as possible and for the opportunity for the new-look team to gel as a cohesive unit.
