This result doesn’t look too good, on the face of it, but the way we played especially in the second half tells a different story. First, we only had 12 players and the side was very different from the one that beat Edgware. Francis Lee was back for his first game for some time, Cyril Baffour was playing left back, Gary Lynch was co-central defender. No Terry Scotchmer or Tommy Lee. These forced changes were due to work commitments. Manager, Tommy Lee hopes to be able to pick from a full strength squad for Saturday.

The game started fairly well for us, we were looking quite strong until the seventh minute when a Horsham midfielder picked up a loose ball in his the centre circle and passed the ball to an offside player who ran on to score whilst we were pushing up and a bit flat at the back. We came back strongly and had four or five good chances which went begging for the want of someone to connect or went just wide.

On 34 minutes Horsham went further ahead when they picked up the ball on the left in their own half. A long ball up the line, the ball crossed in and a headed goal. That was the story of the first half. The second half? We had six golden chances to their one. They scored. The side that beat Edgware last week would have taken Horsham to pieces. Three of our chances were well saved by the Horsham keeper, the other chances were just that little bit wide of the mark. Some players had really good matches: Neil Morgan commanded at centre half and Neil Tilley made some long passes that Glen Hoddle would have been proud of.
