A Dwade James hattrick and a goal from Emiel Aiken gave Walthamstow a 4-1 win over Southend Manor as the wind and rain played a huge part. The win also meant Stow maintain their unbeaten run and moved closer to the top of the table.

It was a dominant performance by Ryan Maxwell’s side as James gave Stow the lead just before the half hour mark. As he ran through on goal, he was brought down for a penalty before composing himself and converted it.

Despite chances for both sides and Callum Ibe coming close a few times, the first half ended 0-1.

The second half was a quick start from the visitors and Stow Captain Vinny Murphy had a couple of good chances but a chip almost beat the keeper before a free-kick was headed over the bar off the line.

Dwade James had his second goal when he converted his second penalty. Callum Ibe was brought down by the Manor keeper after beating the offside trap before Dwade James calmly slotted it home.

Southend Manor were reduced to ten men when Ope Musuro received a second yellow after a challenge before Larry Akanbi pulled one back for the home side following a scramble in the Stow box.

Dwade James scored his hattrick with 5 minutes to go when he was brought down in the box for Stow’s third penalty of the game. Once again he converted it to increase his goal tally before Emiel Aiken got his first goal of the season after he flicked home a freekick taken by Vinny Murphy.

It was a tough match for both sides with the conditions but composer from Stow’s leading scorer from the spot was the difference for the East London side and Stow will now focus on Enfield next week.
