For a second time in four days Walthamstow were left to rue missed opportunities as they conceded a late equaliser against St Margaretsbury, meaning it would be another two points dropped in Stow’s title challenge.
Stow looked to open brightly, but quickly found themselves behind. Too much time was given on St Margaretsbury’s left, allowing a cross into the box that Charncey Dash headed in.
It took a while, but Stow eventually found their groove, and after forcing a couple of set-pieces, they levelled mid-way through the half.
A teasing cross from Reece Conway eluded everyone in the box except a home defender. The ball cannoned off his legs and into the path of Billy Jones, who turned and fired home in one movement.
The second half continued as the first half ended, with Stow on top. Christian Owusu was looking particularly dangerous, and had a cross deflected onto the bar and away, just after Jones had hit the post after nipping between keeper and defender.
Owusu put Stow ahead from the spot on 72 after he was bundled over in the box.
But the lead was shortlived, as Dan Odamo levelled for St Margaretsbury with a long range effort, which Clark appeared to parry into his own net.
The home side managed most of the remainder of the game successfully, frustrating a Stow side who couldn’t create any more meaningful chances.
