Walthamstow progressed to the next round of the Errington Challenge Cup as they beat Tower Hamlets by three goals to nil at Wadham Lodge. Goals from Bobby Marinov, Dwade James and James Bransgrove helped Stow to their second win over Tower Hamlets this season in what was another dominant performance.
The game got off to the perfect start for Walthamstow when they found themselves ahead after 5 minutes. Dwade James forced a good save from the Hamlets keeper after forcing himself through the defence before Bobby Marinov lashed home the rebound.
Stow then doubled the advantage 21 minutes later when a cross from Billy Reynolds saw a Tower Hamlets defender make a hash of his clearance, allowing Dwade James to poke home.
After the break, Tower Hamlets got off to a bright start but it was Walthamstow who were looking most likely to score and were denied a third when Ollie Fortune’s header was cleared off the line. Stow did have their third when first choice keeper James Bransgrove came off the bench and towered over everyone to head home from a corner.
Stow will now play Hoddesdon Town in the next round.
