Heybridge Swifts Preview (4-2-11)

This weekend’s Ryman Division 1 North action pits us against a resurgent Heybridge Swifts side. Seen as many as promotion candidates, Swifts started the season well, but following a mid-season slump in form, they found themselves at the wrong end of the table, and soon parted with manager Wayne Bond. However, since then, Heybridge’s form has picked up somewhat, and they have recorded wins over second-placed East Thurrock and beat Lowestoft Town on penalties in the League Cup last night (Thursday). However, despite these two results, they lost 4-3 to Tilbury, and 3-2 to Redbridge, after leading 2-0.

In the reverse of this encounter, the points were shared in 1-1 draw. After being under the cosh for most of the first half, and going in at the break 1-0 down, we came out for the second half showing real passion, and Marquin Smith got us a deserved leveller. In truth, we were unfortunate not to win the game considering the amount of chances we had.

Following Tuesday’s disappointing result against Tilbury, we welcome back Joel Palmer from suspension. Manager Olawale Ojelabi will have both Robert Carter and Sam Adejonkun to choose from up front, and Alim Sesay, recently signed from Dulwich Hamlet, will provide strong competition in midfield.

You can follow the match on the club’s Twitter stream and Facebook page from 3PM on Saturday.
