Maldon & Tiptree Preview (30-4-11)

So here we are at our final match of the season. It is fair to say that this campaign has not been the greatest for us, but we will look to go out on a high when we face Maldon & Tiptree.

At home, our record against Maldon & Tiptree (formerly Maldon Town) is not the worst. In six meetings, we have won twice, drawn twice and lost twice. We actually completed a league double against Maldon last season. We beat them 1-0 on the first day of the season, and then 2-1 in March 2010.

However, you have to go all the way back to 1996 for our only other home victory against Maldon: a 4-3 win in the Essex Senior Cup.

Saturday’s match is pretty much a dead-rubber. Maldon can’t finish any higher than sixth, or any lower than ninth. Meanwhile, we are destined to finish at the bottom of the table. Every point we are able to pick up is important, should reprieves be awarded on a points-per-game system come June.
