A Troy Dixon hat-trick in the first half saw Leyton Pennant get back on the rails against Molesey.

Dixon struck three times within the opening half an hour and the game was long-since won by the time Billy Cove added a fourth with two minutes left.

The Lilywhites took time to settle on a lumpy pitch but struck the first blow inside ten minutes when Dixon fired home from the edge of the box after a corner was only half cleared.

A couple of swift Pennant attacks threatened more goals but it was Molesey who unexpectedly struck back after 15 minutes, levelling after confusion between new goalkeeper Shaun O’Neill and Andy Silk.

The visitors continued to look lively and Dixon restored their lead when he got on the end of Danny Warden’s cross ten minutes later.

He grabbed his third, knocking in Jason Gerraghty’s cross from close range to complete the first-half scoring on 31 minutes.

Although Molesy came back strongly after the break, they were unable to break down the Pennant defence and Cove’s strike in the 88th minute wrapped up the points for the Lilywhites.

Pennant manager, Lyndon Lynch, said: “We’ve had a run of three bad results recently but two of those were in the cup and we’ve continued to do well in the league.

“The aim now is to keep winning games and finish as high as we can. Nothing’s impossible and whatever we do will be something to build on next season.”
