Walthamstow Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Max Mitchell as First Team Manager. Max returns for a second spell in charge at the club, after being in charge during the two Covid-19-affected seasons, where he oversaw a 64% win percentage, the highest in the club’s modern history.
Mitchell’s managerial career started at Hertford Town, where he pulled off a great escape, saving the club from relegation at the end of the 2019-20 season. He was then manager at St Margaretsbury, leading them to the Gordon Brasted Cup final, as well as an impressive position in the Essex Senior League.
Max came in at a difficult time for his first spell as Stow boss, as the pandemic would start just a few days after his appointment. Despite this, he lost just four league games during his time in charge.
Since then, Mitchell has managed at Welwyn Garden City, taking the club to play-off contention before moving to manage in the Isthmian Premier at Potters Bar Town, where the Hertfordshire club punched high above their weight.
Max and Director of Football Vinny Murphy have already begun working to assemble a squad for the coming season, and we will share news of signings soon.
