Preview: Romford v Waltham Forest (13-8-13)

Waltham Forest will be looking to bounce back from a disastrous opening day to this season as they take on Romford this Tuesday.

We last played Romford only two competitive games ago, as we drew 2-2 in the final match of last season.

While we were on the wrong end of a 5-0 drubbing at home to VCD at the weekend, Romford went down 3-0 away to Needham Market.

Romford has turned into a bit of a Forest Old Boys club recently with Aaron Omand, Luke Stanley and Joel Palmer all now at the Essex club.

Our record against Romford is a finely balanced one. In 19 competitive matches, we have won six times, lost six times and drawn six times.

We last beat Romford in August 2012, as we put them to the sword in a 4-1 FA Cup victory.

There have been some epic encounters between the two sides in recent years. In October 2009 forest were 3-1 down before coming back to win 4-3 with three goals in the last 15 minutes. Andre Humphrey-Modeste got two, with Danny Gabriel netting a brace.

In November 2011 the two sides drew 4-4 at Cricklefield in a topsy-turvy encounter.

Forest will be hoping that Chris Taylor will be fit after missing the opening day of the season with a rib injury. A marked improvement all-round from the Forest squad will be required if The Stags are to pick up anything from this basement match.
