Romford 2-2 Waltham Forest

Waltham Forest dug deep and overcame a two-goal deficit at half time to take a well-earned point away to Romford.

After an even opening, Blessing gave the hosts the lead with a rocket of a shot into the top corner, leaving Cain Davis with no chance.

Shortly after, Romford forward Nick Reynolds was booked for attempting to slap the ball into the net. He soon redeemed himself however, heading unmarked to double Romford’s lead at the break.

Forest came out a different side for the second half, not allowing Romford any time on the ball.

George Lutaaya started the comeback, somehow curling a daisy-cutter through the tightest gap from the edge of the area to the far side of the goal.

Moments later Forest had what they thought was a penalty turned down after Dagher appeared to be taken out when clean through on goal.

Tempers were beginning to escalate, and after a late challenge from either side, handbags ensued.

Two Romford players were booked for their involvement in the affair, while Manny Sackey and Matt Waldron were shown yellow cards for Forest.

With minutes left, Manny Sackey was shown a second yellow card for a late challenge in midfield.

Forest however kept battling and were rewarded into injury time when Matt Waldron headed home off the crossbar.

There was to be one last chance in the match, and it fell to Jack Leachman. However former Forest ‘keeper Aaron Omand was there to keep Leachman at bay and make sure the points were shared.
