1. Introduction Walthamstow FC is committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all players, coaches, officials, and spectators. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behaviour expected from everyone involved with the club to ensure football remains an enjoyable experience for all.
2. Young Players When playing football, I will:
- Always play to the best of my ability and support my team.
- Play fairly, without cheating, diving, or time-wasting.
- Respect my teammates, the opposition, match officials, and my coach.
- Follow the rules of the game as directed by the referee.
- Be gracious in victory and defeat, shaking hands at the end of the match.
- Listen to my coach and respect their decisions.
- Speak to the Club Welfare Officer if I feel uncomfortable about anything.
If I do not follow the Code, I may be required to apologise, receive a warning, be substituted or suspended, or in serious cases, leave the club.
3. Spectators and Parents/Carers I will:
- Remember that children play for fun and development.
- Applaud effort and good play from both teams.
- Respect referees’ decisions, even when I disagree.
- Support the team positively without coaching from the sidelines.
- Avoid offensive, abusive, or insulting language and behaviour.
- Stay behind the touchline and within designated areas.
If I do not follow the Code, I may be given a warning, required to meet with club officials, asked to leave the venue, or have my club membership revoked.
4. Coaches, Team Managers, and Club Officials I will:
- Set a positive example and uphold the values of the club.
- Show respect to all involved in the game.
- Follow the laws and spirit of the game.
- Promote fair play and high standards of behaviour.
- Ensure player safety and enjoyment come before winning.
- Never engage in bullying, offensive, or abusive behaviour.
If I do not follow the Code, I may face disciplinary action, including suspension or removal from my role.
5. Match Officials I will:
- Be honest, impartial, and apply the laws fairly.
- Manage the game in a calm and confident manner.
- Address unsporting behaviour and misconduct appropriately.
- Never tolerate offensive or abusive language or actions.
- Support fellow match officials and promote respect within the game.
If I do not follow the Code, I may be required to meet with FA officials and could face disciplinary action.
6. Adult Players I will:
- Follow the laws of the game and respect officials’ decisions.
- Display high standards of behaviour and promote fair play.
- Avoid public criticism of referees, teammates, or opponents.
- Never engage in offensive, abusive, or bullying behaviour.
- Win or lose with dignity and show respect at all times.
If I do not follow the Code, I may face sanctions including warnings, suspensions, fines, or expulsion from the club.
7. Enforcement of the Code Failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action by Walthamstow FC, County FA, or The FA. By participating in club activities, all members agree to abide by these principles to maintain the integrity and enjoyment of football at our club.
