Waltham Forest 0-3 St Margaresbury

Waltham Forest were dumped out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle for the third consecutive season as they lost 3-0 to St Margaretsbury.

Kevin Hames had some early work to do in the Forest goal, but it was largely the home side who made the early inroads.

Abisola Balogun went close before Papa Baah just couldn’t get on the end of a perfectly-weighted cross from Courtney Stewart. Kubilay Akbayrak’s follow-up effort was then defelected wide for a corner.

Dan Tulloch then went close, rounding the visiting keeper and just missing the target from an acute angle.

The visitors broke the deadlock, Coughlan poking the ball home un-marked from a deep corner.

Forest started the second half badly, and were soon punished. Andrew Tirivanhu’s late challenge in the box saw him booked and the visitors awarded a penalty which Stevenson smashed home.

Stevenson then added the final nail in Forest’s coffin as he drilled home a free-kick from well outside the box. Tirivanhu gave away the free-kick and was sent off as he was the last man.

Forest are next in league action against Burnham Ramblers.
