Waltham Forest 1-2 Aveley

Waltham Forest’s troubles continued as they went down 2-1 to Aveley in a dull encounter at Wadham Lodge.

Anton Stephenson gave the visitors the lead, heading in Teddy Nesbitt’s cross at the back post after only a couple of minutes.

Forest gradually got back into the game, and were level thanks to Tunji Oyewale, who beat the offside trap and tucked the ball between the legs of Jack Giddens in the Aveley goal.

Leon Fisher then went close twice, having a free kick well-saved and almost getting on the end of a Oyewale cross.

However, Aveley went in ahead at the effort, thanks to a long-range effort from Nathan Koranteng.

The second half was devoid of any real chances for both sides, though Giddens did look the weakest link for Aveley, presenting numerous half-chances for Forest as a result of poor clearances.

With a quarter of an hour to go, Forest captain Leon Fisher was shown a straight red card for dissent.
