Waltham Forest now have a pre-season record that reads won one, drawn one, lost one, after a 2-2 draw with Barkingside.
Jeff Hammond was named captain, and lead the front line of a Waltham Forest XI which also included Joel Palmer and Marvin Samuel.
Forest took the lead on 16 minutes after a neat pass from Joel Palmer gave Ryan Imbert plenty of room down the right flank, and Imbert’s precision cross was headed in at the front post by Jeff Hammond.
Imbert, brother of former Stag Kareem Imbert, then doubled Forest’s lead with a curling shot from the edge of the area.
Barkingside did have one clear cut chance in the first half, but Marvin Samuel tracked back well to clear the ball off the line.
The second half was one of many changes, as many pre-season matches are. Amongst others, Lukman Mojeed and Denisas Zadeikis joined the fray.
A poor back-pass from Marvin Samuel allowed former Forest player Joe Ellul to run through and blast the ball past the stranded ‘keeper.
Poor defending then allowed Barkingside to level the score, and that’s how the match ended.
Forest travel to Wembley on Tuesday evening as they step up their pre-season preparations.
