Waltham Forest 3-0 West Essex

Waltham Forest returned to winning ways with a dominant performance against West Essex.

The opening half-hour was a cagey affair, with neither side really threatening. Isaac Marfo had a couple of chances for the visitors, but did not test Harrison Seetah.

The deadlock was broken on 32 minutes, as Lee Flynn curled an exquisite free-kick into the top corner, leaving Sam Haywood no chance.

Soon after Omar Nyame flicked on for Brian Moses, but the front-man’s one-on-one effort was deflected onto the post and away.

Forest would have been happy to take a 1-0 lead at half-time, but Moses atoned for his earlier effort, robbing a West Essex defender before controlling the ball and poking past Haywood from the narrowest of angles.

The second half continued in a similar fashion, with Forest creating plenty more chances than in recent games. Lorrezno Correria had a good chance to score his first of the season, but instead it was Timur Koymen who shot hard and low following Jordan McKenzie’s deflected cross.

Moses, Gareth Madden and Gus Douglas all had good chances to extend the lead, but Forest will be happy with a convincing three points going into Tuesday’s match with Barking.
