Walthamstow v Brantham Athletic preview

Walthamstow finally get their season underway this Saturday in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round hosting Brantham Athletic at Wadham Lodge.

This will be the first meeting between the two clubs. Last season’s Eastern Counties League winners will play at Step 4 for the first time in their history since forming in 1887. Brantham won the league by only a goal difference of 2.
Stow have had a decent pre-season campaign, only losing 2 out of the 7 games, beating the likes of National League South side Enfield Town in the Kaylen Dennis Memorial Cup, whereas Brantham won 3 out of their 6 games in pre-season beating Hadleigh United, Halstead Town and Harwich & Parkeston.
Stow would like to have a better cup run this year. Last season, the Stow beat Saffron Walden Town in the Preliminary round but lost to fellow Isthmian League North side Gorleston in the First Qualifying Round.
Brantham also made it to the First Qualifying Round, losing to Tilbury in a replay after having beaten Shefford Town & Campton and White Ensign.
The winners will be away to Southern League side Barton Rovers
