Walthamstow take on Leverstock Green this weekend in the FA Trophy at Wadham Lodge.
Stow are off the back of a disappointing 4-0 defeat at home against Cambridge City in midweek. The visitors were in full control of this encounter, and were two goals up in 19 minutes thanks to a brace from Charlie Royle. City could’ve made it three from the penalty spot a minute later, if it wasn’t for a good save by Stow keeper Luke Mewitt. It gave Stow a bit of momentum, but they were unable to get through a strong City defence. The visitors found a third just before the hour mark through Fletcher Toll, and a fourth from substitute Charles Brown-Bampoe.

Leverstock Green progressed to the next round of the FA Cup after defeating Stow in early August. They travelled to fellow Southern Central side Ware in the Preliminary Round where they were defeated 5-3. The hosts were two up at the break through Rechan Espirit and Josh Hutchinson. Former Stow defender Ekow Coker got on the scoresheet, followed by Khale Da Costa and Gucci Soulja-Osekanogo to make it 5-0 to Ware. Leverstock found the net in the 85th minute via Carmicheal Uchenna, three minutes later through Enoch Folorunsho and in the fourth minute of added time from George Eldridge to make it 5-3. Ware will now face Isthmian North side Fakenham Town in the First Round Qualifying.
Apart from their cup run, Leverstock sit 18th in the Southern Central table after playing two games against London Lions and Barton Rovers. The Greens hosted London Lions on the Tuesday following their FA Cup victory, however they couldn’t keep their momentum going after suffering a 2-1 defeat. Ben Bellman gave the visitors the lead on the half hour mark before Callum Neal’s equaliser for Leverstock before the break. London Lions managed to regain their lead in the third minute of injury time through Adam Burchell. The Greens were away at Barton on the 15th August where the points were shared in a 1-1 draw. Barton went in front thanks to Powfil Raposo’s goal in the 25th minute of the first half, but Leverstock equalised late on through Ashton Corder’s strike seven minutes from time.
Previous meetings
It’s been just three weeks since Stow and Leverstock faced eachother in the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup, where the Greens won the tie late on. It was Stow who went in front before the break from a debut goal for William Oduwa. Stow looked to have control of the game, before captain Nathaniel Orafu was shown a second yellow card and was sent off. Leverstock found the leveller in the 81st minute after a lapse of concentration in the Stow defence, leading to George Mitchell-Gears firing home. The hosts were hungry for a winner, and found it in the sixth minute of added time thanks to Jack Allan’s strike.
