Stags 2 – 0 East Thurrock
Forest belied their underdog status by comprehensively beating high flying East Thurrock. Proceedings could not have started worse for the Rocks who had Kurt Smith sent off after 10 minutes for stamping on Forest defender John Akinrele.
Forest went on to stamp their authority on the first half with a deftly taken 22nd minute headed goal from Danny Gabriel after an excellent cross from Sam Adesola.
Gbenga Sonuga put the home side further ahead on 48 minutes with another headed goal.. Forest could have gone a further two in front, with excellent efforts from Dean Pennant and Luke Stanley before The Rocks mounted a meaningful attack and soon failed to score from two fairly easy chances.
With Pedro Knight controlling the midfield, The Rocks failed to trouble Forest any further.
