Walthamstow v Bowers & Pitsea preview
Walthamstow continue their hectic October schedule with hosting Bowers & Pitsea at Wadham Lodge on Tuesday evening.
Stow ended their winning streak of three games on Saturday after a 2-0 defeat at their bogey team Concord Rangers. On another day, Stow could’ve picked up a point with the performance they displayed but it wasn’t to be on the day. Stow went behind just three minutes in when Kai Torres found the net, and it went from bad to worse when goalkeeper Luke Mewitt was sent off. Despite the set back, Stow didn’t look totally out of it, but Concord wrapped up the win just before full time thanks to Khris Oti.
Our visitors – The Bowers
Bowers sit in 8th in the Isthmian League table, just outside the last playoff spot. Their only league defeats came in August where they lost to Witham Town on the opening day, and away at Redbridge. Other than that, they’ve beaten Canvey Island, Mulbarton Wanderers, Grays Athletic, Brightlingsea Regent and drawn against Tilbury, Lowestoft Town and their most recent league game at home against Gorleston. Kojo Apenteng’s goal in the first half was cancelled out by Gorleston substitute Kyle Haylock in the 67th minute.
Bowers were eliminated of both FA competitions at the first hurdle, losing 3-1 to Step 5 side Harefield United in the cup and 2-0 at Waltham Abbey in the Trophy. In the Isthmian League Cup, they beat Concord Rangers 3-1 and will face Brightlingsea Regent in the next round.
Previous meetings
Stow and Bowers faced off against each other twice, with a 2-2 draw played in the first home game of the season. Rasheed Salau gave Stow an early lead going into half time, before goals in quick succession from Michael Faulkner and Luca Albon turned the game around. Samir Ali scored his first goal for the Stow to make it 2-2 and secure a point. In the reverse fixture, Bowers won by just the one goal before half time. Former Stow striker Ross Wall was sent off right at the end for a second yellow card.
