Matt Waldron returns to fill Assistant Manager post

A familiar face will be back at Waltham Forest, as Matt Waldron has been appointed as Wale Ojelabi’s Assistant Manager.

Waldron made his debut for the club on the 4th of September 2001 in a 2-0 win over Hungerford Town, then in the Ryman Division 2. That season, he went on to make 40 appearances in all competitions.

He started the 2002-3 season with Leyton Pennant, before leaving along with Danny Honeyball. Waldron returned at the start of the 2006-7 season, and was once again reunited with Honeyball only four games into the season.

He was named Club Man of the Season for the 2006-7 campaign, and his 41 appearances saw him help the club to an impressive league finish.

Waldron then made 9 appearances in the 2007-8 season, scoring his only goal for the club in the 3-1 defeat to Beckenham Town.

Since then, Waldon has playe for various clubs including Waltham Abbey, Ware, Sawbridgeworth Town and Brimsdown Rovers.

Most recently, Waldon was Assistant Manager to Dave Bricknell at Cheshunt. Sadly, their tenure lasted only a few months, despite an encouraging start.

Waldron has signed Ryman League forms, and should be in the squad to face Leiston this afternoon.
