Advent Calendar 2015: Day 24: Dereham Town 10-1 Waltham Forest

The 2013-14 season is probably one best forgotten for Forest fans.

Forest were relegated to the Essex Senior League, but by November, it was clear that it was always going to be an uphill struggle to remain in the Ryman League.

Goalkeeping shortages meant youth team ‘keeper Christ Duncan made a memorable debut between the sticks.

Tthe hosts found themselves 2-0 up after 5 minutes thanks to goals from Kyle Downes, a club recorded after 20 seconds and Ryan Hawkins after 5 minutes.

Hawkins made it 3-0 after 29 minutes before Nicky Howell’s 100th goal for the club and a classy strike from Olly Willis, combined with Hawkins completing his hatrick made it 6-0 to the Magpies at the break.

A second half double from Danny Beaumont and a second goal for Howell combined with a strike from Bussens made sure the hosts hit double figures.

Chinedu McKenzie got a consolation goal for Forest, but it was a long journey home.
