AFC Sudbury 3-3 Waltham Forest
Forest had gone almost eight years since winning in Suffolk before today’s game, and they will now have to wait until next season at the earliest to change that record.
Richard Shittu gave Forest the lead on the 32nd minute, scoring his first goal for the club. Forest’s joy was short-lived however, as James Baker equalized for the home side only four minutes later. Things got worse for Forest on 39, when James Emmauel completed the turnaround for Sudbury, giving them a 2-1 lead.
Having gone in front, Forest would have been confident of getting a result, but by half time, their hopes looked dead and buried, Wareham adding a third just before the break.
Forest showed a bit of fight early in the second half, and Joshua Bonnett pulled a goal back on 53 minutes. Forest continued to press, and were rewarded for their efforts in the 90th minute when Robert Carter scored to earn his side a point.
Despite coming from two goals behind, the result most probably won’t be enough for Forest who now looked destined to bottom place as Ilford extended their advantage to six points after beating Potters Bar 1-0.
