AFC Sudbury Preview – 22/1/11

After two games on the road (admittedly, one was not very far!) Forest are back at home this weekend against AFC Sudbury. Sudbury are currently lying seventh in the table, and know that a win today could put them back on level points with Romford, fifth.

We were actually Sudbury’s first ever Ryman League opponents, back on a sunny day in August 2006, they beat us 2-1 courtesy of a late penalty. Mbyeie Medine scored our goal in a match which proved to be only one of four under Dave Muir.

It must be said that our record against Sudbury is a very poor one. In six games, four in the league and two in FA Competitions, we have only managed one draw that came in January 2007 when Danny Gabriel scored in a 1-1 draw.

Our recent run of good results has seen us rise up the form table, to the point where we are now actually above Sudbury by virtue of fewer goals conceded. Both teams have taken eight points from the last six games.

Like us, Sudbury have made a few changes to their squad recently. Leaving is Tom Webb who made 21 appearances this season, scoring twice. Meanwhile, Nicky Smith has signed Michael Shinn who was most recently with Dartford.

As usual, there will be live updates on the club’s official Twitter stream and Facebook page.
