Brentwood Town 4-0 Waltham Forest
Waltham Forest turned in a poor display away to Brentwood Town, going down 4-0 to their relegation rivals.
The game got off to the worst start for Forest as full-back Jack Gardner won the ball just outside his own box and within seconds Sam Bantick had slipped a pass through to former Stags front-man Courtney White who outran two defenders before nicking the ball past Amadou Tangara.
Forest responded well, twice testing Blues ‘keeper Dean Neil, but it was Brentwood who scored next, doubling their lead after eight minutes.
Bantick was once again involved, this time winning a free-kick on the edge of the box, and centre-half O’Rawe managed to bundle in Louis Baucutt’s set-piece.
The Stags made a change in midfield with only 20 minutes gone, bringing on Victor Igbo for Ben Jackson, but it was defender Miguel Pascal-Johnson who had the visitors’ best chance of the half with a drilled effort across goal after 35 minutes.
Brentwood remained in control, though, and Bantick and Junior Luke both missed glorious opportunities to put Brentwood 3-0 up.
And the misses almost proved costly as Martyn Stokes made a goal line clearance to deny Forest’s Lee Scott and ensured Brentwood remained two goals to the good at the break.
It was another former Forest player who got Town’s fourth, as Tony Martin got on the scoresheet less than three minutes after coming on, rising unchallenged to head home Baucutt’s long range free-kick from six yards.
With 15 minutes remaining two substitutes combined to score Brentwood’s fourth, as Martin’s inch-perfect cross found Jacob Cleaver and he slotted past Tangara.
