Core of title-winning squad back, and some new faces

As is always the case in non-league, there has been plenty of movement to Stow’s playing squad over the summer. However, we’re delighted to announce that the core of last season’s Essex Senior League winning squad has confirmed they’ll be staying for the 2022-23 season.

Those returning are:

Adalberto Pinto (captain)
Jason Beck
Samir Bihmoutine
Kieron Cathline
Tommy Fletcher
Callum Ibe
Michael Osei
Connor Scully
Tommy Spillane

For many, 2022-23 will be their third season at Stow, as they approach 100 appearances for the club.

There was stiff competition to keep the group together, such was their quality on the field, but John Mackie and Terry Spillane are delighted with their lot.

There are plenty of new faces at the club too, including:

Defenders

Bradley Empson: A young and versatile defender who signed in the summer. Has played for Hertford Town and Hullbridge Sports in the UK, as well as a having a spell playing for the East Tennessee Buccaneers in the States.

Midfielders

Daniel Brock: Summer signing from Southend Manor who has impressed in preseason, bringing compatibility to midfield.

Ruben Campbell: Exciting summer signing from Cockfosters who can play in midfield or defence.

Kaidyn Michael: Signed in the summer from Cockfosters, and has impressed in centre midfield. Was with Cambridge United as a youngster.

Reece Mosanya: If you can’t beat them, sign them. Reece scored against us last season, and impressed so much that we made a summer swoop for the tricky winger. His direct and rapid play has looked exciting in pre-season so far.

Lucas Schreiber: Another of the Cockfosters contingent, who joined this summer. Can play in midfield or up front, but is most comfortable at left back Had a spell in the US with the Drury Panthers.

Forwards

Ben Ward-Cochrane: Powerful forward with an eye for goal. Signed this summer after a year without playing. Has previously been with Loughborough University and Potters Bar Town.

Matthew Walsh: Close-season signing from Hoddesdon Town who has previously been with Enfield Town. A big physical presence up front.

We can also confirm that the following players have left the club. We thank them for all their efforts in contributing to the ESL title.

Harrison Carnegie (Brighlingsea Regent)
Amarildo Cekrezi (Unknown)
Charlie Cole (Barking)
Jason Hallett (Saffron Walden Town)
Richard Hayward (Retired)
Courtney Homans (Grays Athletic)
