Enfield 1893 1-4 Waltham Forest

Forest returned to winning ways with a ruthless performance against Enfield 1893.

Kem Kemal’s side were on the front foot from the outset, despite missing a number of key players through injury and suspension. Omar Nyame had the first chance of the game, shooting against the side-netting when through on goal.

But he made amends six minutes later, converting Rheo Joseph’s cut-back with a simple tap-in at the back post.

Ten minutes later, Forest’s lead was doubled. A sliced Enfield clearance was brought down by Pelummy Martin who laid back for Harry Larner to rifle in his first goal for the club.

Rheo Josephs had two good chances to increase Forest’s lead further before Pattison gave Enfield a lifeline just before half-time, poking in a free kick at the near post.

There was still time for Forest to attack, and had the ball in the back of the net again before half time, after the home keeper’s clearance hit Josephs and went in. However, the linesman signaled for a corner, adjudging the ball to have already gone out of play.

After a patchy first 15 in the second half, Forest began to assert their dominance again. Martin was cut down in the box, but the referee waved away Forest’s appeals.

On 69, Forest got a deserved third, though there was an air of good fortune about it. Rheo Josephs’ teasing cross was left by both goalkeeper Nikolaou and former Stag Andrew Tirivanhu until the last minute, when the ball hit Tirivanhu in the chest and rolled in.

From then it was a case of how many for Forest, with Nyame, Martin and Lorenzo Correia all going close.

But Larner had the final work, almost breaking the net with a low effort after Nyame’s free-kick was only half-cleared.

Forest have now scored 14 goals in 3 games against Enfield, and will be looking to build on this good result as they travel to Southend Manor on Saturday.
