Good wins for Reserves and Veterans, Ladies continue to improve

Garjay Thompson, who featured in the first team’s draw at Tower Hamlets for 2/3 of the game, was on target 3 times for the Reserves as they ran out 5-2 winners in Division One of the Barnet Sunday League. Terry Amafoa and Pelummy Martin were the other Forest scorers. The win takes them up to 7th and in touching distance of the three teams immediately above them.

The Veterans game at Old Minchendinians was held up for 15 minutes to allow the mist to clear sufficiently for both goals to be visible from the centre spot. Once underway Forest struggled to find the target against the Division’s bottom side, but eventually Adem Cagiran broke the deadlock on 19 minutes scoring from close range.

The hosts countered well and deservedly equalised on 37 minutes, but 2 goals by Serdan Cinar in first half stoppage time, put Forest on track for victory.

Serdan Zorlokoi added a fourth on 50 minutes with a long range drive, but Minchendinians reduced the arrears again to make it 4-2. Cagiran scored a fifth for Forest and the pulled further clear when Erdal Beklar added a 6th with 20 minutes left. The hosts quickly pulled a goal back, but could make no further inroads on the Forest lead and to cap the performance Serkan Karakas added a 7th in the final minute. Forest stay in 2nd place, a point behind leaders Continental 58.

The Ladies team built on last week’s improvement to put up a strong fight against Harlow Town Reserves. They held the visitors until just before the interval, and although they conceded 4 goals after the break, a 5-0 defeat is their best result so far.

Next Sunday the Reserves travel to Aylands Open Space, Bullsmore Lane, Enfield for a 10.00 kick-off against Spartans Old Boys. The Veterans are at home to Anatolians in Group B of the Veterans Cup. This is on the Park pitch at Wadham Lodge, kick-off 12.00.

The Ladies have a re-arranged fixture, and travel to Marconi Leisure in Great Baddow for their return match against Chelmsford City Reserves, kick-of 2.00.
