Gorleston 1-0 Walthamstow
Walthamstow’s FA Cup journey ended in disappointment as Ryan Curtis’ second-half goal secured Gorleston’s narrow victory at The Wellesley.
Stow began the game brightly, creating early chances through Ibe and Moses. In the 9th minute, Petrov headed wide from a Thomas cross, and Moses had another effort narrowly miss in the 32nd minute after a slick move from Njie. Despite sustained pressure, Stow struggled to convert opportunities, while Greene was called into action late in the half to tip away a dangerous Gorleston shot. The first half ended goalless.
The game turned in the 49th minute when Curtis capitalized on a loose ball, volleying past Greene to give Gorleston the lead. Walthamstow fought to respond, with Johnson and Moses combining well in the 57th and 87th minutes, only for their shots to be blocked or deflected. Ibe’s effort in the 62nd minute, after a superb ball from Babalola, forced a save but couldn’t level the scores.
Teniola’s introduction in the 74th minute added urgency to Stow’s attack, but Gorleston’s defense held firm. Tempers flared in stoppage time as Peart was sent off for a rash challenge, leaving Walthamstow to finish the match with 10 men.
With an attendance of just 129, Stow’s traveling fans witnessed a spirited but ultimately frustrating performance. Despite creating ample chances, Walthamstow’s inability to find the net proved costly, ending their hopes of an FA Cup run.
