Leese and Meakes appointed as Stow management team

Walthamstow FC are delighted to confirm the appointment of Andy Leese and Jon Meakes as the club’s new first team management.

Andy Leese’s career in football spans both playing and management, with his strongest impact coming from more than two decades in non-league dugouts across the south of England.

Leese began his managerial career in the early 2000s with Somersett Ambury, followed by a three year spell at Cheshunt where he won the Isthmian Division Two and then Division One North play-offs. It was at Cheshunt at Leese and Meakes worked together for the first time.

After spells at Boreham Wood and Potters Bar Town, the pair spent ten years at Chesham United, reaching the first round of the FA Cup twice, winning three county cups, achieving top six finishes in eight of his ten seasons.

Leese and Meakes then spent six years at Enfield Town, regularly securing play-off finishes for the Towners and winning the Isthmian League Cup.

Leese was most recently with Hayes and Yeading United, who he guided to a sixth-placed finish last season.

A UEFA A-licence coach, Leese has also worked in a variety of coaching and assistant roles during his career, contributing to the development of players across several levels of the game.

Meakes has over 40 years’ experience as a player, manager and coach. He was most recently assistant manager at St Albans City, but has managed at St Albans as Chesham United, as well as being assistant at Hertford Town, Potters Bar, Cheshunt, Boreham Wood and Wealdstone, and a coach at Enfield Town.
