Motormen skipper Elliott makes Stow switch

Walthamstow manager Vinny Murphy’s work this summer has continued, poaching neighbours Redbridge’s skipper Joe Elliott.

Joe started his senior career playing for Aveley’s reserve side under the management of George Christou. After a spell at Southend Manor, Elliott was reunited with Christou at Redbridge, where he spent the next four seasons.

He was an ever-present for the Motormen, scoring eleven goals in 173 games, the majority of which were played in defence.

Joe’s durability will be a key asset for Stow this season, who struggled with niggly injuries last season. Indeed, Elliott was an ever-present for Redbridge last season, appearing in a mammoth 47 games.

Elliott lead the Motormen to promotion from the Essex Senior in 2023, and to the Essex Senior Cup title the following season.

It looks like another shrewd signing for Murphy, as pre-season gets underway.
