Needham Market Preview (27-8-11)
This Saturday we face Needham Market it what is already an important match for both sides. After slaughtering Potters Bar Town 7-0 on the first day of the season, Market were fortunate to come away from their match with Heybridge Swifts with a point after Bertie Braley missed a penalty for Swifts in a 1-1 draw.
Forest were also victors on the first day of the season, but despite a battling performance on Wednesday evening, we slumped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Grays Athletic.
We have only faced Needham Market twice in our history, and those two games were resoundingly won by Market as they finished 2nd in the league last season. At home, two early goals put Market 2-0 up within the first 20 minutes, and a heavy defeat looked on the cards. They then took their foot off the pedal, and despite Brian Okwera pulling a goal back for us, Market ran out 3-1 winners.
The reverse encounter was not much better for us. After the kick-off of a rearranged match was delayed by 15 minutes because of a floodlight failure, Sidney Anguiley had a poor game in goal and Market put four goals past him without reply.
Despite the loss of some key players during the summer, Needham Market will continue to be oen of the favourites for promotion throughout the season, and will prove a tough test for a strong Forest side.
