Preview: Waltham Forest v Redbridge (24-8-13)

Waltham Forest will be looking to secure back-to-back wins as they take on Redbridge this Saturday at Wadham Lodge.

It has been a slow start for the Motormen, with only three points from their opening four matches.

Redbridge lead in their first thee games of the season, but lost 3-1 to new boys Eirth and Belvedere and 2-1 to Aveley. Last Saturday they put three unanswered goals past Soham Town Rangers, before losing 1-0 away to Needham Market in the week.

The summer has seen a great deal of change at Oakside, with a takeover from those formerly running London Bari. The club also reverted to their blue and white colours.

Former Bari manager Rick Eaton is first team manager, a role shared with Dave Ross who returned to the club this summer.

There are a few familiar names in the Redbridge squad – Danny Charge spent part of pre-season with Forest before making the short trip to our opponets, while there are also familiar non-league names in Eljay Worrel, Sam Holloway, Gary Henty and Emiel Aiken, amongst others.

Leslie Thompson leads the forward line with four goals in four matches so far.

Redbridge have used 20 players so far this season, and shows that like Forest, they may not yet know what their strongest starting line-up is.

Our record with Redbridge is very even. In 15 matches we have won five, lost six and drawn four.

Last season both meetings ended in 1-0 wins to Forest, while the season before, Redbridge won the respective matches 7-2 and 4-1.

There was also, of course, the 3-0 Forest victory in 2007 when Andrew Thomas fired in a hattrick of penalties.
