Southend Manor 1-1 Waltham Forest

Waltham Forest started the season with a point on the road to Southend Manor.

The home side had a golden chance to take the lead in the first half, having been awarded a penalty.

Keeper Kevin Hames saved the spot-kick only for the referee to order it to be re-taken. However, the re-take was blazed over the bar.

After 41 minutes Forest took the lead. Mohamed Mahmoud sent a defence-splitting pass through for Manny Ibhadon to slot home.

In the second half the home side applied some pressure, hitting the post twice and scoring after Forest did not deal with a short corner.

Forest will face a far tougher test as they host Barking this Wednesday at Wadham Lodge.
