Stags 2 – 2 Great Wakering Rovers
Forest must wonder how they did not take all three points from this pulsating encounter. Within the first 15 minutes Forest had hit the Rovers upright twice through Ryan Oliva and Rovers’ Lewis Sparrow heading against his own post.
With Forest in the ascendancy, Rovers took the lead against the run of play on 25 minutes when Ty Benjamin headed home a Michael Fox left wing cross. Forest continued to drive on with Luke Stanley missing narrowly from a cross by Rob Carter.
Forest’s Brian Okwere finished the half shooting just wide from the edge of the Rovers penalty area. With the match swinging more and more towards Forest, Luke Stanley brought Forest level after some excellent work from Victor Renner and Rob Carter.
Equality was short lived when Rovers retook the lead two minutes later through a header from Ben Hudson.
Minutes later Forest’s Victor Renner and Rovers’ Ty Benjamin were sent off. This spurred Forest on and they drew level on 81 minutes when ‘keeper Sam Tanner took a long free kick from his own half. Super sub Shamraz Darr met the ball and headed home to bring a deserved point to Forest.
