Stags 2 – 3 Potters Bar Town

This mid table tussle provided what can only be described as a pulsating and vibrant encounter which kept the sparse crowd amply entertained.

Potters Bar took an early lead through Jordan Watson who scored from close range after just 4 minutes. Town could have gone further ahead but for a great save from Tanner. Forest pressed forward but looked very open when Town counter attacked.

On the half hour Town won a free kick on the right side of the penalty area the cross was flighted towards the back post and looked to be going past the post until Dan Odamo stole in to head home from close range.

Town looked to have taken an unassailable lead on 37 minutes when Watson broke through the centre of the home defence to knock the ball past an onrushing Sam Tanner.

Forest began the fight back on the stroke of half time through a powerful Danny Gabriel free kick which went through Town’s wall and into the net.

It was Gabriel who scored on the 52nd minute setting up an onslaught on the Town penalty area which saw Forest unable to convert a number of chances. Matt Bennett, in the Town goal was called on to make two particularly fine saves and Forest did get the ball into the back of the net but the referee Mr McCoy saw a foul just before the chance was taken.
